I Can See Cuba From My Hotel!

A travel blog entry by roadscholarorg on Apr 23, 2015

... likes of which only Florida can provide. Of course it will be sunny and 80 degrees in Florida, I had thought to myself as I skipped past my umbrella, because after all it's freezing and 40 degrees in Massachusetts right now. Clearly I have not learned the pivotal lesson about making assumptions.

Since I haven't been to Cuba yet, I thought I would take this time to go over my idea and knowledge of the little island nation. There is ...

... from the state of Florida. What a parking lot. Twenty miles later at 6 mph we finally make it to Ft Lauderdale. As we get off I-95 we found out Donna's idiot travel agent forgot to print off the map to the hotel. One year of planning, and I forget to print the map to the first hotel. Seriously? Well worth it if you ask me! We also filled up our water tank before heading on our way to Key West. Most ...

... handy in miami I had no idea how much I would need it. We went to a beauty salon because I wanted my eyebrows done. "How much to do my eyebrows" seemed to be too difficult for the Hispanic lady to understand. We had to point to our eyebrows and mine what we meant for her to finally tell us $30 dollars. Nah mate ain't nobody gonna pay that much. You would think that eyebrows is something that is part of the common knowledge of someone who works in a beauty shop. Clearly not here! ...

... mins! Although it's apparently 4 degrees...fun...lol I packed my down jacket so hopefully it's enough in the cold. Ok upon arrival into NYC we were bundled into a very tight (cozy?) super shuttle. The first thing we noticed was that the streets and traffic looked a lot like Sydney! Haha! Not sure if that was true or it was an unconscious homesickness. Anyway traffic was crazy cause it was peak hour so ...
