    Jeff entering this one !

Today we went to Oldeboorn, Friesland to see where my dad was born and grew up. My Tante Etty had cleverly set us up with an Oldeboorn old-timer who is somewhat of the local historian. He took us around the town, including the 'gemeentenhuis' - the town hall where my dad's birth was registered; and the former 'pastorie' ( parsonage) where dad and his 3 sisters were born. The line at the Anne Frank House was nothing in comparison to this! We walked to the front of the line where an attendant told us we had to wait in the long outside line, & once inside we could skip the line! Thanks! He said the best time to come was 9 AM when it opens. So, OK on to plan B. The ...

Well today was well-intentioned but has so far been a dangerous day for me. It began with a trip to a beautiful farmer's market, where we picked up some fresh bread, perfectly round onions, and coffee. Let me remind each of you to appreciate your American coffee, because over here it not very good! It is bearable and needs some serious doctoring, especially since they don't have regular cream. Worse for me, there are little flavoring ...
