    Dubai to Home!

    Dubai Airport was fairly quiet in the early hours of the morning, few shops to check out on our final stop-over of about 4 hours. We were all pretty tired & sleepy, checked the flight schedule boards for our next departure gate and headed that way, to Gate area C, the furthest from our arrival area. I headed to have a back, shoulder and foot massage, the others for a rest in a cafe near the gate.

    ... it out here I am looking forward to coming home. Although the 26 hour plane journey doesn't sound so appealing when your on your way home. I'll just drink myself to sleep :-) it'll be great!! :-)! Couldn't think of a better way to begin 2014 than being here in Oz. I hope the rest of the year is as good as it's started.     ... Already licking our cones we discovered they had no credit card facilities (I had mine in my pocket after purchasing our train tickets), so the kind owner offered Rod a lift down to Sherman for cash in his old car, which was decorated all over for Xmas! I found the perfect spot in Stringers Creek for a refreshing dip in a pool at the base of a small waterfall. I had to coax Rod in with the promise of a free beer, a pot of course!     After leaving the Cooper Creek and the millions of flies that live there, we continued on south to Marree, which must be doing well after all the years of water in Lake Eyre, as there is a new shop & bakery and the pub has plenty of new accommodation (just metal Atco huts though).
    Laura had a drive on the Birdsville track and did a great job (see previous blogs photo). Evan had to take over though, as 30kms an hour ...
