    ... the Old Town has been perfect. Walk out the door and there are so many things to see and do.
    Museums abound, walks along streets laden with fashion houses - no possible temptation there as we are already at the limit of airline weight allowances - churches, cathedral, basilica, river cruises - all add to the colours and flavours of such a charming city.
    And the people really have been friendly and charming.

    Ben loved the long walk in the park ...

    Such a lovely morning that we delay setting off and have a potter around Besancon. It is a really charming town and we will definitely come back again.     ... lunch in the centre of Lyon to a restaurant recommended by our apartment host Jaqueline. The repas is traditional Lyonaisse with the restaurant showing Photo's of the chefs family from years gone by back to the early 1800's with tiled walls, minute kitchen and proud hosts. Every second person is greeted with hugs and traditional French kisses or handshake so we feel part of the heritage this restaurant ...

    ... br> The musee was quite comprehensive - roman ruins as usual made one in awe of their magnificent power and might back in those days. Lyon - was a colony of Rome. Possibly created to house exiled powerful people. Lyon grew to be a great colony and even had their representative in the senate in Rome.

    But with all roman ruins - it was buried and lost over time. Finally found and unburied - lots of treasures were unearthed and put in the museum. The theaters ...

    Lunch seemed to skip us by as every town we stopped in to eat didn’t have a single restaurant open. Feeling slightly annoyed we powered on to Lyon and got into our accommodation with no problems.
