... totally forgotten about the extra course that my meal came with - cheese! Placed in front of me was a rather hefty wedge of semi-soft cheese with a salty rind upon crushed walnuts and little pieces of toasted 'pain d'épices'.
After eating ALL of that we got on to dessert. I had a massive crème brûlée and Alyssa had some pain d'épices and ice cream.
... as was the wine. We asked for a digestif after our meal, and were given a distilled wine with an alcohol percentage of 45. It smelled and tasted like scotch, but tasted like grapes and honey. AS2, or other interested Samms, if you come to France ever, you'll have to try this! Apparently it's unique to the Bourgogne region.
