We visited Kelly's dad Bart and step mother Maggie in Auburn and while there we also saw Uncle Jimmy.

Bart and Maggie live in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada's where gold was discovered in 1848. It's a beautiful area - with many of the country charms you would find in Vermont.

On Thursday night Grandpa Bart, Glenn, Ian and Jonan went to the movies and Maggie and Kelly had a women's night out with Darby and ...

MONDAY 6/2-The wind hasn't blown for two weeks but last night the weather reported increased winds starting Monday afternoon with gusts up to 40. What they should have said is Sandefur's are moving so time for windy conditions!! Driving up Route 99 (It is a better road than Interstate 5) we continue seeing the crops we saw starting in Bakersfield. There were miles of pistachios, alfalfa, almond and grapes. (Since the big cat attack during our Las Vegas trip last year, Matthew is not very enthused about taking care of Poe and Barley...)

We started this trip intending to go to Toronto and Montreal. Never got to either place, but that's okay. We like to be ...

We regained our footing on the 49 in the town of Cool and then headed north to hit our last stop on the 49. the city of Auburn.

While I was planning the route for this road trip I had a discussion with a co-worker of mine that had grown up in Northern California and told me about a great little swimming spot that he had fond memories of while his Dad took him on road trips along the 49. The middle and north forks of the American river meet ...

... to be riding a quiet, smooth path early in the morning. We were taking it easy to prepare for tomorrow. What was most amazing, however, was how many people we passed as we rode down the trail. There were literally hundreds of people out exercising and commuting along the trail as we rode down it. I was amazed - it was early in the morning on a weekday and there were just so many people out being active. ...
