Outside of the pictures I've taken, there doesn't appear to be much left of Centralia. All of the abandoned homes have been demolished, the paved streets are slowly being taken over by undergrowth. Unfortunately the most prominent thing you'll see is trash and litter from inconsiderate visitors.
The hikers I had met the previous night, Stakes and Clarity, had taken a zero at the Allenberry Resort and, based on their experience the previous morning, convinced me to get the breakfast there before I hiked out that morning. It was a good call. The resort had a big buffet of breakfast food that was actually good, as opposed to the normal bland fare you get at most hotels and motels. It powered me up for the day's hike, which I needed.

It was a great trip - a three hour drive from home to the Whitewater Adventure Center, 13 miles on the river, and 3 more hours on the road home. .....I was dead! ......but thanks to sunscreen, not too burnt :)

Bags are packed! Very early by our normal standards but then it is not every day that we set off to explore Argentina then set sail for the Antarctica. A rain, freezing rain, snow event has the potential to make our Tuesday departure from JFK interesting........
