... for cooling down when it's hot and sweaty, while the latter is good for making you even more hot and sweaty when you're already, well... very hot and sweaty... Still, Ron's young neice and nephew like it... I may have to invest in an inflatable paddling pool for my own entertainment! Or maybhe I will just stick to the beer fridge... On the subject of being hot and sweaty, my plan all along has been to avoid the expense of a car ...
Geelong, Victoria, Australia fishtails04... I am lucky, there will now be a picture of them here. They spent the afternoon telling me about the bombing of Darwin in WW2 (until I few years ago, I didn't even know Australia had been bombed) and Dolci's role in the Flying Doctors (she was a nurse sent to an outpost in northern WA), and finding out how much history and experience is nestled in the minds of the older generations. I have never spent much time with older folks, and was amazed at how interesting they can be. (Sorry if ...
Geelong, Victoria, Australia wayfaring... were quite a lot around, although like deer, they run when they see you. Because the sanctuary was so big (miles by miles) and the kangaroos weren't even confined by the short fences that marked the edges, it was really hard to get that close to them. We eventually did sneak up on some by using our mad quiet skillz. When we got back from the tour we went out for Mexican food, which was pretty standard. The theory was again, come back to the hotel and rest, then go ...
Geelong, Victoria, Australia spsadventures... least it is calm and sunny; for the first time since Auckland, I can spend time on deck in shirt sleeves. We eventually berthed just after 16:00, so I'm hopeful that a few shops and an internet cafe will still be open by the time I get into the city - I expect it to be 18:00 or so. [Later: Well, actually 19:30 by the time Customs showed up. Oh Well.]
Port Philip Bay, Australia pete-r... the one that you hold up to your eyes and has buttons on the top- if you know what I mean you´ll remember it - if not ignore that bit !), hopefully it won´t be beaten. That evening we had several beers and vinos catching up with our friend Andy Stanton that used to live in Bermuda. It was great to see him after 6 years and we had a good catch up on what we´ve all been doing - cheers again for the beers Andy !! The ...
Melbourne, Australia shieldsontour... it throws at us. It is very easy to get distracted these days with the ever increasing need to buy our way to happiness through clothes, car's and the livestyles that we are TOLD we want through the media. Yet many people do not know their neighbours anymore and would rather sit on their new higher purchace sofa, pay nothing til 2010!, and watch reality tv and tune out the reality that is the disinvolved world that we live in. The world needs a new sense of community both on ...
Melbourne, Australia claire_noelWe were picked up in Melbourne by Lindsay's old Uni friend Ainslie and her sis Olivia and we drove along an extremely straight road heading south to Geelong. Basically what Mebourne lacks in style and chic you'll find in Geelong. We were on our way to their folks place for the weekend and most importantly to continue supping V.B's at an alarming rate. One thing that is surprising about Geelong is they appear to worship these strange figures which are placed all over town. A ...
Geelong, Australia lindsaygauge... didn't even get to hear the money coming out... He was too embarrassed to collect his $0.35 + $0.40 + $0.25 winnings, I would have been right up there!

Check this out, have you ever seen anyone more happy to have won about 40p?! ;)

It's a bizarre experience gambling over here because the pokies are always surrounded by a myriad of leaflets ...
Geelong, Australia al_fey... had a lovely meal overlooking the bay as the sun went down and treated everyone to a magnificent sunset. It was so peaceful and quiet in this little place and as the sun set so the stars came out and nature gave us another of her beautiful shows - every now and again a shooting star would dash across the sky like a stray firework. It was a lovely end to another great day. On the Thursday (29th November) the day ...
Port Campbell, Australia mcaren... it was time to head back home so that Ryan can get some time to relax before going back to work. The next day is going to be busy for Ryan again since he start to work at 6 am again. We are planning on enjoying the day after and go to Queen Victoria market for some grocery shopping and a fresh snack. The day should be very nice and sunny. Hope you all have a lovely day!
