Historical Traveler Reviews of Best Western Gatwick Worth Hotel Crawley
Very disappointed in the Gatwick Worth
from GabbyScotland
We stayed at the Gatwick Worth hotel for one night when we returned from our cruise. The foyer of the hotel needs a face lift and we were apprehensive from the moment we walked in the door!
The reception staff were unwelcoming and the only form of communication was when we were handed our keys and given our room number.
The room was clean but extremely shabby. The remote control on the miniature television did not work. The bathroom was very dated with a stained bath and no shampoo/bath gel etc.
We had dinner in the restaurant and waited 55 minutes for our meal. Apparently the chef had "lost" our order! We received an apology from the waitress but no offer of a free drink or a coffee "on the house" as one might have expected. The food, however, when it eventually did arrive was very nice. Breakfast was adequate and the young staff were very helpful.
When we checked out the reception staff were again very "dour". No one asked if we had enjoyed our stay - perhaps an indication of their past customer experiences!
The minibus to take us to the airport left 15 minutes late - no explanation for the delay was given. When the driver eventually turned up he spoke on his cell phone the entire time he stowed the luggage. Very poor customer relations! No tip for him!
Our stay in this hotel was a very disappointing end to our holiday. We would have been more comfortable sleeping overnight in the airport!
Be warned - don't go there!!
If you want a good night's sleep, don't stay here.

We spent one night here and then left our car while we spent 2 weeks in Samos - never again!
Reception was efficient although not very friendly but the room was large, clean and quite well appointed. We could not understand why other reports had been so negative - until it came to bed time. The bed was completely awful. It creaked, loudly, with the slightest movement and sagged alarmingly in the middle. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep.
We ate in the restaurant. It was rather too bright and the tables too close together but, although the staff we inexperienced, they did try hard. The food was quite nicely presented and tasty but I had an upset stomach in the early hours - not the best thing before a 4-hour flight!
On our return, we rang the hotel as instructed and were told there would be a 20 min delay for pick-up. I rang again over half an hour later and was told they would be with us shortly. It arrived about 35 mins after my first call but there was no hint of an apology, either from the driver or reception back at the hotel.
This was not a good experience at the start or at the end of the holiday.
Hidden charges kill you!

The "free" shuttle will get you from the airport, but it will cost you to get back--and it's not cheap. Don't pick up the phone. There's a surcharge for all calls . . . even attempts that don't connect. And they're not cheap. Accomodations are adequate (but expensive), and the staff was friendly. Use the train. Stay at a B&B!
Needs a makeover
from DickDiver
We stayed at the gatwick worth jan 05 overnight. It is a tatty hotel with the fake wood facades on the bar and surrounding areas falling off, clearly the work of ex local council decorators. They allowed workman painting in another part of the hotel (more ex council workers?) to stand around the bar making remarks about guests which we thought was bad management.
All we could say about the room was that it was also tatty, our bed base had a big hole in it. Oddly enough, the food in the restaurant was very good. I had the best stilton soup ever! The restaurant staff were attentive and helpful. However, the staff on reception were barely able to force themselves to speak - answering questions in monosybles, never volounteering anything helpful. If this is the 'best' western have we will stay at the hilton next time.
Flea Pit
from HotelMotelBuster
This hotel should have been a real deal, a best western with free parking. However, the room was very out-dated and we were bitten several times by bed bugs. In fact my wife suffered with several bit marks, which became inflamed! Don't stay here, and ignore the other reviews, they don't represent what a dump this place is!!
A nice break from the airport
from TravelerWoodlands
Hotel is set in a lovely park and if you've just arrived on an overnight flight, a brisk walk into the town of Crawley is delightful. Setting is quiet and no airplane noise. Staff were courteous and very helpful, including prompt pick-up at the airport after using the free phone at the "Courtesy Coach" drop-off point at Gatwick Airport. Only drawback was no lift (elevator).
Definitely go back

A Comforting Stay

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the Gatwick Worth Hotel. Its set in suprisingly rural surroundings but convieniently only 10 minutes away from the airport. The staff were very friendly and served our every need. The humble and relaxed atmosphere was welcoming and a perfect start to our holiday. We found this to be the only hotel in Gatwick which does an early hours bus run. On our arrival back to Gatwick we were promptly collected and taken back to the hotel where we collected our car and left to go back home.

Lovely Location, Down a Leafy Lane!

Staying at the Gatwick Worth Hotel is like sharing a secret! A delightful little place where you can safely leave your car. The Hotel will take you at any time of the day or night to Gatwick Airport and after a telephone call on your return, will pick you up again within a few minutes as it is only a short distance from the airport, yet it is down a leafy lane in deep countryside. We enjoyed our stay, however beware, there is no lift!
