I've had my haircut, true New Yorker style by a local barber and visited my favourite cuban hotspot Cafe Habana where I sat by the bar, ate my grilled chicken and corn salad, and got chatty with the girls shaking cocktails.

Well worth the visit.

By this time we were all Totaly exhausted so it was decided to take the subway back to our hotel.
Just dont make eye contact and you will be OK was the advice we had been given... Hard to do but it evedently worked as we came out unscathed at the other end.

... so far here in the USA... Don't know if this applies to smaller cities but for the big cities here are my tips that I find useful now... And that I will be applying when I am traveling around by myself... The simplest thing is to do as much as you can during daylight hours. Like I said above, the later the night goes on, the more strange people you see and it really just makes you more vulnerable especially if you're gonna be going on public transport. Nice to be up and about again after a rest day yesterday apart from a quick trip to the United Nations building at the bottom of 42nd Street.
