What will stick in my memory from my stay in the Everglades will undoubtably be the wildlife and the hostel staff, indeed I cancelled my South Beach booking in Miami because something kept me warm and safe in the Everglades Hostel. On one of my days I went to John Pennekamp State Park which was suppose to be a half hour bus ride but turned out to include an hour walk up a state highway because the bus driver dropped me off 3 miles short of my stop! Feeling quite thankful for the incredibly accommodating friends Nic & I were able to spend a few days with here in FL before heading to Haiti. Mike & Jess have become instant family as they've insisted on paying for great food and good beer while we try to get last minute details wrapped up and rest up before leaving behind the U.S. for 5 months.

On arrival, Mike was so concerned that the blow up mattress wouldn't be comfortable enough he ...

... were flying flags too. St George's Cross, Union Flag. All that good stuff. Except the flags weren't exactly "flying". They were more like wafting about like war torn shreds of old towel.

They even stuck an old style Red Phone Box outside, meaning there are probably more of them in other countries than there are in England at this point. How long till Faux British Bars ...
