Foggy and cool this morning. Had an egg sandwich for breakfast. (Sounded good - wasn't). We caught subway down to Battery Park and a short walk to Staten Island ferry terminal. The free ferry takes 30 mins to SI, past Liberty and Ellis Islands. Foggy but pleasant. Subway again, over to Brooklyn. Magnificent buildings everywhere. Brownstone apartment blocks, churches, court buildings. Small boutique shops everywhere. Very nice. Oh, and some crew were filming something ...
... Like Pearl Harbour, and rightfully so, it's a solemn place, but definitely not where you will find people walking around sadly. The Pools make it a very calming place. Very appropriate for all those who lost there lives there so suddenly and tragically back on September 11, 2001. I will let the pictures below tell the story far better than I can.
... We will try again tomorrow.
We were next to the Russian Tea Room, a place we've been keen to visit but never gave, so we made arrangements for lunch.
Lunch was really nice. We passed on the $500 champagne and Caviar special and instead opted for a chicken Kiev and Russian sliders, salmon, veal and Kobe beef. Yum. Mardi also had a tasting plate of Caviar. We were served by a prince, check out the photo of the docket.
