Leaving Joe Wheeler
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Harry and I launched "Newhouse" a couple of days ago from Joe Wheeler State Park and Marina on her maiden voyage. We left with two other cruisers, Jim and Barbie on their 28' Hunter and Jack on his 43' Albin.
We are making our way back to the entrance to the Tenn-Tom Canal which will take us to the Gulf of Mexico in Mobile Alabama.

... had a lovely gold wall color, everything else in the room left a lot to be desired, notwithstanding the hammock for a bed! If it only would have had ropes on the ends and was tied to a tree that could have been fun! at this point we were excited at the prospect of having a healthy dinner, a salad with dark greens, carrots, red pepper, whole grain wheat bread, and the only fish available that needn't be cooked, canned sardines. Loopers, Loopers Everywhere!
... a man-made canal that is five times longer than the Panama Canal. The entire waterway is 450 miles long, with 12 locks that let you down 341 ft. between Pickwick Lake at one end and Mobile Bay at the other.
We had great weather the entire week, but it has turned cloudy and cold the last two days. I don't think we will see any effects from Sandy but some of you, no doubt will. We'll sure be thinking of you and hope for the best wherever you are.

... roll by November 1 to get into the Tenn-Tom Canal and head toward the Gulf of Mexico dumping out in Mobile AL.But, that is just a plan in the working.

... about. We've heard good and bad things about the city so we're gonna do some investigating and possibly stop for lunch... If not it'll be straight on to Montgomery.

P.S. Dave and I have just returned from The Sweet Magnolia... OMG AMAZING. One of the best meals we've ever had with some of the friendliest most genuine hosts we've ever had. Special mentions ...
