    ... in westerns, only this one had lacy curtains. He probably serves tea to the boys in the lock up on doylies. The Cafe des Amis served delicious seafood dishes with great names crawfish étouffée, gulf fish stuffed with crab meat. Names you never see on the Carousel menu!     Woke this morning to find our efforts were wasted and I'd been eaten by Mosquitos - not happy! We then loaded to the van and set off across Texas. I get the front seat on this journey woo!     ... is slim pickins'. Personally, I see why they think this bird was not a Pileated Woodpecker, but I don't think there's enough there to proclaim the return of a bird extinct for more than 6 decades.

    We can always hope, though! I kept my eyes peeled for an Ivory Billed Woodpecker, but no dice. I'm sure if it hadn't been raining so hard....

    This was the one place where rain spoiled our plans on this ...

    ... I go in and they did have scoops and low and behold in a case toward the end is Whitehouse ice cream. Go figure! We had gotten her a cone and a cup in case it dripped which it did.

    So we get off the highway in Rayne, LA to get ice cream after seeing a sign on the side of the road. We discovered much more.
