... as much as I can.

There was one time though I really wanted to interfere and help, but then I thought not to say a word.

While walking I saw tourists enjoying their lunch under the shade of tall green trees in the old city of Athens – Plaka.

I saw a young couple having some meat balls in their plate which were completely ...
Athens, Attica, Greece greekcypriot... those rules don't apply to them. I had to jump out of the way, along with several other people, as a car made its way down one of these beautiful pedestrian streets. The merchants aren't nearly as pushy here as they were in Jerusalem and Istanbul, and that's refreshing. It's also kind of nice to be in a city that is still mostly Christian. Churches aren't museums here. I'm not sure how much I miss or don't miss hearing the muslim calls to prayer at all hours. They were ...
Athens, Attica, Greece jimmyrh... lost when I managed to spray myself in the face with a jet of cold water from a drinking fountain, much to the amusement of some nearby Brazilians who managed to refresh themselves without coming across as total idiots. (Brazilians helpfully make themselves known by having "Brasilia" written on every part of their clothing and mentioning Brazil a lot- if Juan Charles de Menzes had remembered his countrymen's habits the day he boarded the tube an innocent life could have ...
Athens, Greece englishanddrunk... attempt this climb but there are many benches along the way and you can always stop for a rest if you need to.

The little church on top of Lykavittos was enchanting and the view from here was really amazing. It was great to be able to see Athens from atop – the buildings looked like lego blocks and I realised how very crowded Athens really is. Every available inch of the city was filled up by buildings and I could see how narrow the roads are ...
Athens, Attica, Greece xuanargi... New Zealand, except for the Won't Kill You bit. When we drove past a playground I was utterly convinced for a bit that I was somewhere on the Westcoast. Then I looked around and realised, oh yeah no it's definitely Greece. Cassy keeps telling me this is what the south of Italy looks like, and I kinda hope not because it's really dry and a touch barren. It's pretty, but it's very brown. The temple is really cool, and must have been really impressive back in the day. Across ...
Athens, Attica, Greece bubba_oliverYeppers, I'm in Greece!!! Yay! Super excited, should be an awesome time. Here in Athens for a few days, then I am heading out to Islands unknown. No plan yet really. Can't believe I am here still. What a long time coming. Little story behind it. Was supposed to get here two days ago, but when I arrived at the airport in Milano, well, the flight had been cancelled. Oh I was mad!! I don't even remember what the girl told me, as long as she would kindly get me on the next flight ...
Athens, Attica, Greece steph_444... that the door is a gift shop door, with glass panels that open accordion-style in a semi-circle to expose an opening about ten feet wide. The photo below shows the opening from inside the LRC. The white/blue panel-looking thing on the right is the door in its open position. The brown paneling beyond the doorway is the L-shaped hallway outside the LRC. Open Door ...
Athens, Greece uaebuveh... getting the car stuck in a ditch and spending the next 20 min figuring out how to get it back on 4 wheels. Good fun! Flew into Athens Tuesday afternoon... arrived at the terminal on-stride with Shipway, who was arriving in from London. Very weird. After finding our accommodatýon, headed out with Brent and Kelly to enjoy a great mixed grill (delicious kebabs) near the Acropolis. Good eats... mmmm...
Athens, Greece terence... in Greek lead by 1 guy down on the field. After a few minutes, I thought France was going to lay a beating on Athens, but Athens came back and constanty had the ball in front of the goal. Athens eventually scored and the place went crazy. M-80's were going off and flares were being burned. They even had yellow smoke bombs to go with the teams colors. When the game ended we ran for the door. Only to find everyone stopped dead. Like in the ...
Athens, Greece rbartorillo... thought process in choosing to go to Hydra instead of another island. When we decided to go to Greece, it seemed natural to spend some time at on the islands. We thought about doing some island hopping, but the reduced frequency of ferry service and the threat of having even this reduced service cancelled due to inclement weather narrowed our focus to only one island. We then picked a list of islands that we thought would be most interesting to visit. Our list turned out to ...
