Best Western Elm House Inn Napa

... Jessups. The host was nice but we weren't too keen on the wine so we moved onto Beringer where I got a bit tipsy on their lovely sparkling Rosé, mmm so good. After lunch we had decided we'd had enough of Napa as we both couldn't drink, so we hit the road for a few hours enjoying the quiet open road and forest scenery. We decided to stop in Garberville for the night and found a friendly motel to recharge.

We had a trunk outside the tent where we had to keep all food and toiletries so as not to get a visit from a bear during the night. It's called being 'bear aware'. It was dry season which means it hadn't rained for probably 6 months or even more. The atmosphere was as hot and dry as a sauna and the rivers and waterfalls ...

Our work offsite meeting was being held in Napa at the Silverado Resort. The rooms were nice - suites with full kitchens. Outside of being in meetings most of the time, we really didn't get to enjoy it much. Of course, being sick didn't help either.

Lilian and Eric arrived at San Francisco International Airport 25 minutes ahead of schedule. They were excited to be in the United States, but they were tired from 15 hours of travel. We drove through San Francisco and saw the sun setting. The light is beautiful because of the forest fires in the area. We also saw a truck tipped over on the Bay Bridge. ... People were allowed to walk onto the boats and ships that were decorated with all of the historic information about each vessel. Normally, people have to pay to walk around on this part of the docks but for some reason there was no power at the shack where money was taken so everyone was allowed to explore the boats for free. I walked on all of the boats then decided to walk up the dock line and actually leave the wharf for a while to see what else was around in the area ...
