    ... the lock on the Welland Canal which goes between lake Ontario and lake Erie - around the falls. There is a road bridge which opens when the ship is leaving the lock. We were lucky enough to see the action.

    Went to a large Metro store in the town for lunch supplies - bread rolls and ham. They had a diagram to allow choice of the thickness of the ham slices. Lots of choices with the bread rolls too.

    ... overheard our problem when we were speaking to the Head Flight Attendant near the end of the flight and he said wasn't in a hurry and for us to change places with our overhead storage. This was great as it meant Richard didn't have to run half way down the plane to get our carry-on bag and wade through the aisle and be delayed in getting off the plane. We thanked everyone and were first off the plane ready to run.

    ... buildings are original and feature the oldest buildings in Toronto. The fort saw action during the War of 1812 and was in fact captured by US forces in 1813. The US Army destroyed many buildings in the fledgling city as part of their desire to capture the whole of Canada to make it another US state!
