... hotel is pretty nice. We plan on getting breakfast on the road tomorrow since the hotel charges for breakfast, but our parking was included which is rare for a downtown hotel. The room is a really nice size. Once we get to a normal small hotel room, we will be really claustrophobic after these nice big rooms.

Our species list ended up not being very long but we only spent a brief amount of time at the refuge.

After spending a day planning out my journey along Lake Superior's North Shore (and eating around Duluth), I was able to enjoy a few more Duluth area sites. Friends Julie and Tim each separately recommended the Skyline Drive and Enger Tower, atop the hill in Duluth. From ...

We left Copper Harbor by way of Brockway Mountain Drive along the north side of the Keweenaw Peninsula. This was a very scenic road at approximately 2500 feet above the water level - a long thin ridge. When we got down off the scenic road there were a lot of single family houses along the edge of the water. This peninsula is so narrow we had to go back through Hancock and Houghton and then travelled west to Ontonagon on Lake Superior. ...
