Early start 7am bus to train station to catch the Rocky Mountaineer train to Whistler. Carriage number three and fifteen of us (15/20). Breakfast served, cereal and yoghurt followed by croissant with ham cheese and lettuce, juice and a cup of tea. Weather was drizzly and foggy around Howe Sound and worse once we hit Whistler, three hours on the …

A long flight 12.5 hours, some turbulence in the early hours, patchy sleep. Dinner not much to speak of except the ice cream. A nice Pinot Noir to finish the dining experience. Breakfast served about 2 hours before we landed in Vancouver at 2.15pm local time on Friday 4 July. Transfer minibus airport to downtown. Check in to hotel Best Western Plus …

Finally back in Canada!

After stopping in Everett, we hopped over the border in a measly 15 minutes and arrived at our hotel. It was nice, the view was nice from the penthouse (open to everyone) and then we went to Stanley Park to see the sunset and the bridge. We were planning on coming on Monday morning to see the cruise ship come in to port, so we needed to get a good …

Hitting the Rails

The day began at 4:30 a.m. Fortunately our internal clock was still running on Central Time and thought it was 6:30...or at least that was what I tried to convince myself. Our hotel had been chosen because it had a continental breakfast that began at 5:00 am.

At 6:45 I received a text that our car service had been dispatched …

Our day starts at 10am for a short tour of Vancouver, the last stop was an elevator ride to the Vancouver Lookout a panoramic observation deck (similar to Sydney Centre Point Tower) with revolving restaurant. The weather was on our side again, we had unobstructed views of picture-perfect Vancouver, on a cloudy day – the clouds disappeared for …

    Keycards everywhere!!!

Man, this place requires key cards to get upstairs, downstairs, and in the elevator. Quite a nice view from the penthouse level (open to everyone) and has a great park & sail option to save on parking while cruising! Not as close to downtown as we would like but close to good food and a few bars.

    Great value for Vancouver!

    from

We stayed here for one night and, although the area is kind of scary, the hotel itself is very nice and a great value for the city. The staff were extremely helpful and went out of their way to help us. The free shuttle dropped us off on Robson street, and from there it was only a 15-20 minute walk back to the hotel. We made it back safely without any incidents. I will definately stay there again. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

Location kinda scary, but hotel is nice

    from

The hotel was comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub, spacious bedroom and bath, and laundry facilities. However, we ended up eating in the adjacent restaurant both nights because the area was a bit too sketchy for us to walk around in at night. The complimentary shuttle was booked on the day we arrived, but available the second day to take us to Stanley Park. The price was fairly resonable, but next time I might spend a bit more to be in a better area.

    Good value for Vancouver

    from

We stayed twice in this hotel overnighting on our way to and from Vancouver Island. Reading the reviews and the concerns about the area we were curious to see it ourselves. It is true, the lower end of Granville Street is somewhat seedy and slightly run down with many people hanging around that obviously have geater problems in life than worrying which hotel to choose. But this is reality in a big city and in this case it was never a security issue or annoying in any way. We enjoyed the location - walking distance to the shopping areas of Robson Street and Yaletown. The character of streets and neighbourhoods changes from one block to another - again, typical for big North American cities. The hotel itself was a nice and modern Best Western - nothing to complain about. The underground parking and internet came for free (but ask first whether there is internet in the room - some don't have connection).

    Great place, great staff

    from

My mother and I visited Vancouver for the first time July 21st - 23rd and were in shock upon arrival at the location of our first hotel. Originally, we were to stay in the Dominion Hotel in the Gastown area. Unfortunately, we did not know the area is where most of the drug addicts and homeless hangout. We made the decision to stay some place else.

Good hotel if you don't mind the price

    from

My fiance and I recently stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a very good experience. We had no problems and we were happy with the way things went. The room we were in was nice and clean. The rest of the hotel was also clean and the workout room was very nice with lots of different things to workout on and there is also a great view of the city from the roof. The price is a little high but not too bad depending on where you get your reservations from. The only real downside to the hotel is it's location because it's in a neighborhood that attracts people of all different sorts but it is still very safe. We walked around the area at midnight and had no worries at all. We recommend this place to anyone who wants an above average hotel and doesn't mind paying a little bit more.

    Good deal!

    from

I stayed for three nights in March and was very pleased with the facility. The security was excellent, the workout facilities clean and generous, and the breakfast filling. The neighborhood wasn't the best - Granville Street has some rougher spots and some shops not appropriate for children - but it was convenient walking distance to most of the sites of the city I wanted to see.

    Very Satisfied

    from

March 5-7, 2004. We stayed at this hotel 3 nights and were very satisfied with our stay. The continental breakfast was a nice perk.

    Excellent place to stay

    from

We go to Canada three or four times a year and this is our favorite hotel to stay at. We love it! for our 15th wedding anniversary we stayed in the Penthouse suite. It was amazing. The staff has always been helpful, the parking is free, and the views are great. It is close to everything. We love it. The only negative thing to note is there is no restraunt on site.

    Best Western Downtown

    from

We were very pleased with our accomadations at this hotel. The location was great and the staff was always so friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean and the kitchenette was well stocked with toaster, tea kettle, coffee maker even a colander. The hotel also provided a shuttle into downtown and the staff gives good recommendations to sites and restaurants. The top floor with the fitness center provided a great view as did the hot tub room. Will stay there again should we return to visit Vancouver.
