... I don't have pictures of is driving several miles into the forest on forest service roads and on the way back I got to take my bike out and ride it 8 or so miles down the mountain. What a rush!

So, music, hot springs, lakes, bike rides, kite flying, and just down home relaxing.
Idleyld Park, Oregon, United States sjandbuddyNot much to tell about Roseburg and our stay here, although it is a nice little town and the back balcony of our room looked out over the Umpqua River, with accompanying ducks and interesting birds of a sort we don't see in Alabama. We needed to wash clothes and gather our wits before driving to Crater Lake, Mt. Shasta, and into California -- so Roseburg is it.
Roseburg, Oregon, United States janemh... a trail called Founders Grove. It is called that because a group of people back in 1931 got together to 'Save the Redwood Trees'. Imagine that, conservationalists way abck then - what foresight they had. I turned at Highway 199 and went North and East towards Oregon. Within about 15 miles the Redwoods stopped to be replaced with Fir trees. Redwoods only grow on the coast in California and Oregon ...
Roseburg, Oregon, United States muggeragem... now hooked up with our friends and we are going to travel in a caravan (three coaches and one car) to our next destination which we expect to be Corning, California. We are going to stay at Rolling Hills RV Park which is attached to a casino. The reason for some of this apparent urgency is that the weather is good and we want to get through the mountain passes in the Siskiyou's as there is no snow. Will write again from our next destination.
Canyonville, Oregon, United States shipling... Karoo type driving, when you're on your way too Cape Town. Flat, semi-desert and boring. So not many photo's were taken. The road signs are quite different, and we came across a few interesting one's - so we took a few photo's of the road signs (especially since the scenery wasn't that great). Closer up north, the landscape became more hilly, and prettier - especially once we started seeing the snow ...
Roseburg, Oregon, United States sotasToday the plan is to travel to southern Oregon. After taking advantage of some more of Tom and Lisa's graciousness and hospitality in the morning I leave Cool and put about 400 miles on the bike over mostly freeway miles. Passing through Chico (again) I note that all my sweat glands seem to be in good working order. It's 111 degrees F! Whew!! I'm very grateful to start up into the mountains, traveling past Mt. Lassen, a dormant ...
Roseburg, Oregon, United States graybeard... itinerary changes constantly. The thought of actually experiencing the places I have read about seems like a nice daydream..... I am both excited and nervous. I can only aniticipate the experience and cannot wait for the reality of being back in the homeland, a place I have never known but I feel it inside of me somehow. Roseburg, Oregon, United States kelly-shiloh... once at the lodge in Crater Lake and once at our hotel in Roseburg. Both lasted only a few moments, but no weather to speak of -- what's up w/ Oregon? We've been tracking wildlife seen since we left. It got pretty boring back east so we expanded it to animals seen -- cows and/or cattle; horses; mules and/or donkeys; various rodents; various birds. Didn't get interesting until the bighorn sheep in Colorado. We've since added some deer (and possibly ...
Roseburg, Oregon, United States allobr... off about 10 miles off Cuba and we never made it... That's another story and another blog, should you care to read that one just send me an email and I'll send it to you.. He has a lovely home about 12 miles out of Sutherlin, Or and the Umpqua River runs just behind his house. It's a very peaceful area with lots of song birds plus Mick is into wine and has started his own vineyard. He gave me an education in the extensive and complex art ...
Eureka, California, United States dldementedRuthanne was sick. very sick indeed. She'd been fighting off a cold since Christmas, and it had slyly transformed itself in the time we were gone to a full-blown sinus infection. The sticky bloom of sickness hovered like a cloud that threatened to take captive San Francisco and hold us as prisoners of misfortune, ruining our chances of a beautiful relationship with our destined California town. we would not have it. Though we woke Ruthanne up ...
