    ... we saw deer everywhere! The place is over run with deer. We saw more deer here than at any other place. Unfortunately, they haven't gotten the whole crossing-the-road skill down. On one of our rides around the area we saw a herd of about 25 - 30 deer. We pulled off of the road and watched them in the field for a bit, they weren't terribly impressed with us.

    ... and scenic area will not be recovered within our lifetime. This fire is a tragedy for so many people there with problems more serious than ours but to think it will be gone for a generation just compounds this sad event. We wish the people there a speedy recovery.
