    A great find

Flying in late and leaving early we wanted something simple and clean and convenient. This hotel was great. They offer shuttles from the airport to their hotel and the next morning took us to the local car rental location. The room was huge. I had to go back down and ask if they had upgraded us as it looked like a junior suite, but no, it was just their king room. There is a nice lap pool and fitness center. The breakfast in the morning was enough to get us going. The staff were all polite and helpful. The neighborhood was quiet and comfortable. We walked late at night to the nearby Domino's pizza and felt safe. I have no reservations in recommending this location.

Très grande chambre, très propre. Frigidaire et micro-onde. Internet sans-fil et surtout sans problème. À quelques kilomètres du métro pour aller en ville. Restaurant familiale à 2 pas.

    Getting started

Day 1 We took a later flight into Chicago so Russ could have one more day at work. We found out what being TSA pre-checked meant- it is a good thing.

The hotel has a shuttle, but we couldn't figure out where to catch it. Finally realized it was outside the airport via a tunnel to the bus and shuttle area. But it was okay as it took that …

... checking in this evening easier. They gave us our boarding passes last night before we left the airport, so all we would have to do is go through security and go right to our gate.

After freshening up, we had a lovely breakfast buffet in the hotel lobby. We returned to our room to use up every bit of time we had left and watched movies and worked on the blog. Sherece had told us about ...

... stumbled across - The Purple Pig (thanks to my brothers friend 'Uncle Bacon Adam') for the tip. It was a bit different, community dining but AMAZING food. Still didn't quite surpass Oceana in New Orleans, but has definitely moved into second. After our fill we headed along the avenue and went to visit a few shops (one to look and two to escape the cold a bit). We were on our way back and in Macy's when ...

... the tournament we enjoyed some half off beers at a late night bar which had a row of ice right at the bar so that you could keep your beers cold! the next morning we got to enjoy some has browns, which apparently Ann Arbor is famous for, at a nice little punk rock diner. Will went off to work to slam gens into bacteria cultures and we hit the road again. Four hours later of more "game of thrones" and watching huge wind turbines being ...

I had been to Chicago a few years ago and really enjoying it, so we decided to spend some time there together. However, before describing what we did here, there are four photos of our last meal in Paris with Rebecca. It was at a great seafood restaurant in St Germain, the La Bar a Huitres Saint-Germain. Great food and service, wonderful final night. We flew to Chicago with Aer Lingus which was actually pretty good and arrived at ...
