As a closing note, you also might be surprised to know that we don’t use Matt’s wheel chair much at all. Bathroom runs at gas stations and the hotel stops are great opportunities for Matt to walk and get some exercise. People in general are very kind and helpful and it lends a smidgen of credibility to the smirks we get when presenting Ricky the official emotional aide dog at the front desk.
I'm happy but incredibly sad. At first I didn't think that I'd cry. I was counting down the days until I could come home and speak english and live my American life in a peaceful, spanish-free way. Well, here we go! After almost a year of planning and proposal writing, Mom and I are less than 24 hours away from our Greek "Odyssey." Our flight takes off tomorrow evening to Thessaloniki, Greece via Istanbul. After a day in Thessaloniki, it's off to explore the ancient city of Athens for three days and then finally to Crete to attend the Creativity Workshop.

We departed Livingston, LA about 9:30 and made our way toward Texas. I was driving because of all the bridges on that part of I-12 & 10. We crossed into Texas about 1pm and stopped at the Welcome Center. If you have never been to the Welcome Center on I-10, take a trip East just so you can turn around and stop there.
