    A Last-Minute Cat-Care Flurry

A travel blog entry by cphenly on Aug 08, 2014

We're off today for our anniversary trip--we're headed to West Virginia for a ballgame, a drive-in, and an ATV tour. Cat/House-Sitting plan number 1 failed at the last minute, and I had to scurry around for alternate arrangements, but a former student stepped up and so we were off as planned. We spent the morning at Sky Meadows State Park. I found the geocache, and, since we paid the $5 entry fee, we took some time to tour the historic area of the park. After that, we had an uneventful drive home, stopping for ice cream along the way (ice cream instead of ...

... dinner Susan made us a pasta dish with veggies! I enjoyed my dinner on the front porch overlooking the pastures and warm sunshine... Just love the beauty of a farm. Anyway an early night for me tonight, more hard work to be done ...

We done a day trip to the historic village of Harpers Ferry which borders 3 states. A great little place for lunch and packed with tourists.
The next day we took a quick ride up to West Virginia so I could tick another state off on my bike then we headed for Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive.
Had an amazing ride along the ridge of the mountains with stunning fall scenery. Even saw a couple of baby bears in a tree which caused the usual 'bear jam'. ...

This entry mainly to complete the map.

Rained through some of the first movie last night, and then rained nearly all night after we got back to camp, so we had to pack up a wet tarp and a wet table cloth, but those kept everything else mostly dry, and at least we didn't have to pack up in the rain!

Uneventful morning; made it home in time for lunch!
