... us 45 minutes to cross the lake. At the other side we had to pick up another bus which drove us down the most expensive road in New Zealand - Wilmot's pass. It was a half hour twisty road over the mountain down to the coast. When I say road, I don't mean a Tarmac road. It was more of a fine stone pathway. When we arrived, Pete was right. Clear skies! Considering it rains here 200 days a year, it's totally worth being organised and making sure ...

... br> Back in Greymouth when I was having a bit of a moment, I booked my own room at Hippo Lodge. I felt I needed some peace and quiet. This proved to be a good decision as the majority of the 52 people on board the bus crowded into the foyer of Nomads. The walk up the hill to Hippo, with my backpack, nearly killed me. After the highs of yesterday we were right back down to earth again with a long boring day on the bus. The South Island is pretty vast so we have long bus journeys between places. Today we were on the bus at 7am and the journey was a horrible stop start one. We stopped at least 6 times throughout the day. If we had been on the road for 2hr treks at a time it would have been so much easier. Instead we were stopping constantly at various ...

... felt very relaxed and tame compared to the first minute of chaos. The only other stop we made on the north island was in Wellington at the bottom tip of it. It was a surprisingly beautiful British colonial city built in the hills around the many bays and harbours of the Cook Straight. The only thing we didn't like about it was the difficulty in driving from A to B. On more than one occasion, we ended up on the top of one of the many hills in the area or we found ...

Driving Back to Queenstown felt like coming back home… again. If you lost count, this is our third time coming back to Queenstown. We just can't leave this town, it has been the closest thing to home we have had down here. We didn’t have any set plans while we were in town, just hang out with friends and enjoy QT in the waning days of summer.

We spent one glorious day playing cards and picnicking on the beach of ...
