Took off from Conover maybe 7:15, on the first day of our new Adventure. Beautiful drive through the North Carolina foothills, through Asheville, on through the Great Smokies to Knoxville, then on to Lexington. Had done some research. Woodford Reserve is the "Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby" If it is good enough for American Pharoah, it's good enough for us. Had a really entertaining tour ...

Should be interesting!! ...

... I came back burnt and touch of sun stroke. Pink is the colour for Oaks day. They have special drink for Oaks which is pink made up from Vodka and not sure what else. Mint Julip is the Derby drink - Bourbon and mint etc. I did try it but it was very strong yuk, yuk, yuk. The Lobster sandwich is very popular - this is lobster and Mayo on a sweet bun. Not bad. The race meetings ...

Apr 27 - What a beautiful place Lexington is, from the moment you get off the plane. The airport is fabulous with murals and statues of horses everywhere you look. The blue grass of Kentucky is just gorgeous so lush and green and the horse studs are just sensational worth millions and millions of dollars as are the horses. Toured Winstar farm on 2200 acres with 500 horses, 150 staff and owned by one family. They house and breed with some ...
