    Amana Colonies is one of America's longest-lived communal societies beginning in 1714 in Germany and continues today here on the Iowa prairie. First settleing near Buffalo, NY in 1843-44 they needed more farmland and in 1855 move to Iowa. They called their village "Bleigtreu" or "remain faithful".     Today is another windmill day. Seem like there are more and more as we move along. Must say it does not make for a great view. We find it interesting that many are not running. The temperature is rising so we have to turn on the generator so we can run the rooftop AC. That's better. After lunch we run into increasing winds. Not quite like riding a bucking bronco, but close.     Yesterday, Mike turned 65. He is officially a Senior Citizen. It's hard to believe it was all those years ago, we were just a couple of kids, going to the dance at the Pine Grove Pavilion in Portsmouth. Now, here we are, closing in on the first major destination of our journey, Yellowstone National Park. Tomorrow we pull out and head towards Lincoln, Nebraska. ...

    ... very accommodating and Fox got the whole fluff and puff treatment.

    On our way back to Amana, we came to some unscientific, but obvious conclusions. Nine out of ten vehicles we passed were pickup trucks. Two out of five roads we drove on were unpaved and dusty.


    No matter where you look, there's a corn field.
