... was, “where’s next”? Travelling had become what Russell and I did and I was struggling with the concept that it really was time to get back to work and go our separate ways in the week again.
Russell had a fairly predictable route back into work given that he had been speaking to a potential employer throughout our travels so aside from the final hurdles it was a pretty
straightforward return to work. I ...

... As we head towards Bovington, we drive through hedgerows and thatch cottaged villages. We arrive at the Tank Museum and Rod is like a boy in his favourite playground! He is so knowledgable with all the tanks, explaining when the were used, if they failed and how they improved. He had his favourites too. I really enjoyed the tour too! The first experimental tank was little willie. Too short for the trenches. Then there was the "mother" ...
An early start was in order today as we knew we had to get to Hilltop as it opened to get on the car park. After a brisk journey, including the sight of some early morning skinny dipping, we arrived and queued. Very excited and impressed with the whole thing, the house and garden were amazing. The house is like a time capsule and you can see her inspirations at every turn. If you visit, don't forget to look out for her books opened to ...
We packed up and headed for our favourite Morrison's, which was not far from the campsite. The staff were friendly and we were able to change the pitch we had been allocated very easily. The pitch sizes are decent size and the site is very peaceful. The showers were badly designed and if you are not careful, everything can get wet. It needs a ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Best Western, The Connaught Hotel Bournemouth
Dated hotel. Not worth the money
I recently stayed here in one of their so-called 'superior' double rooms. I was very disappointed as I had expected more for my money. The room was quite small, the decor quite dated and although it said I could get wifi internet access in my room it did not work. Found a cockroach in our bathroom at night!
The front office is very scruffy and gives a terrible first impression as you go in.
The leisure club is ok and looks like it's had more money spent on it recently which is good.
Shame the rest of the hotel did not live up to the amazing looking website on which I booked.
Not awful but not great
I stayed with my partner for two nights at this hotel. We had a superior double room. It was small but did have a small balcony which was quite pleasant. The room was not , by any standard, what one would call luxury but it was clean & tidy.
My biggest gripe was that the cleaners were on the corridor from 8.00am and were knocking the door to service it from 8.15 and shouting to each other so any chance of a restful break were out of the window. We asked for room service which was ok except the night staff couldn't give us any wine because they didn't know where it was. The room service directory was two years out of date. I wouldn't stay there again.
Avoid at all costs!
Booked a 'superior' room for a Saturday night, should have cost £160 but negotiated £120. The hotel is scruffy internally but we could not believe the room. The furniture was archaic, wallpaper peeling, 1970's bathroom fittings, dirty carpet, etc. If that was superior I hate to think what the normal rooms are like.
DO NOT BOOK THERE!!
I booked this hotel, looking forward to a week of luxury and comfort. Was I disappointed!!!
This is a very average hotel. Hotel needs renovating. All looking a bit tired. Our room was rather shabby, decor needs updating, wallpaper peeling etc. We stayed in a family suite, but not very spacious. With a double bed, and a single bed very little room left.
However, staff were all very friendly, and service was good. Room service very efficient, and breakfast very good too.
Quite disappointed with accomodation, would not stay there again, unless updated and improved.
A nice choice
Best Western hotels can never be described as charming. Perfectly acceptable would be far more accurate. Our room was small and dark, but quiet and clean. The bathroom was small (to be expected) but in good condition.
The hotel is on a quiet street on top of the West Cliff (it is about a 10 minute downdown.... down hill going and steeply uphill coming back).
Our room rate included breakfast, which was quite nice (Juice, cereal, cake, fruit and a selection of hot foods). We never left feeling hungry
Surprisingly for a hotel of this category, there was a gym and pool.. It was nice to be able to work-out and then go for a long swim.
If you don't have high expectations, this hotel will work well for you.
Lovely rooms friendly service
My fiance and I stayed here and found it excellent. The rooms were nice and the food was great. We would like to thank the manager Nikki who made our stay very special with her wonderful service. Will be back again soon I'm sure.
THis hotel was a real disappointment. For the price and claims in their leaflet and website and I was expecting something reasonable but what we actually got was very poor.
