We decided to avoid Dallas on our way back to California from Austin. Once the sun set I knew we should start looking for a place to stay but each little town we came to on that back road had nothing to offer. What a relief to hit Comanche and see the Best Western. Clean. Cushy. Quiet. Free breakfast. Fast Internet and a laundry facility.

It's a Texas tradition! You have to eat at "Waterburger"! Yummy breakfast of pancakes, taquitos, honey chicken biscuits, and chocolate milk. Mmmmmmmmm We stopped for ice and lo and behold....Dublin Dr Peppers! In honor of my sister, Kathy, we bought one for everybody. For those unversed in Dr Pepper language, Dublin Dr Pepper's are made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup and are only available in and around Dublin, ...
... I am sure we will have plenty of stories to tell from our upcoming two weeks.....some of us wanting to kill each other....but most about what hilarious antics we got ourselves into. So driving through some little Texan towns today, much nicer than the spaghetti junctions and chaos of Dallas/Fort Worth. Some of ...
... a single property on the lake has sold in over a year. It is dry!
We spent the week here, just chilling out and getting caught up on what's happening in the family.
We found another BBQ joint in our book in Valera, TX - Big O's Barbecue. So we decided to check it out for lunch one day. When we arrived, the owner was sitting at a table talking to another customer. When he sees the book in Shirley's hand, he ...
... know the Dr. Pepper history.
Dr. Pepper is a Texas original, originating at the Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store in Waco, Texas. It is the oldest of the major brand soft drinks in America, invented by a young pharmacist by the name of Charles Alderton. Charles began selling this new fountain drink in Morrision’s Old Corner store. Soon other soda fountains were buying the syrup from Morrison and serving it.
