We decided to avoid Dallas on our way back to California from Austin. Once the sun set I knew we should start looking for a place to stay but each little town we came to on that back road had nothing to offer. What a relief to hit Comanche and see the Best Western. Clean. Cushy. Quiet. Free breakfast. Fast Internet and a laundry facility.
    Excellent

... and ribs. All were very flavorful, moist and tender. We then drove south toward Austin in search of Lost Creek Winery listed on the internet, but found that it was closed for renovations, so we headed back toward San Saba to the Fiesta Winery near Bend. Kathy and Dennis had been there before, but noted that they had grown considerably since their last visit. We were surprised at the long list and the diversity of wines they offer. While ...

The day before Thanksgiving, we moved to Brownwood to visit with Kathy and Dennis and Vickie and Jack.

Once we got set up, we went to Kathy and Dennis' house to visit, and later that evening, were treated to pizzas that were stuffed with all kinds of goodies.

Thanksgiving day, we, and their daughters and family met at their house and were treated to a wonderful Mexican food meal rather than the usual turkey, etc - a tradition started a few ...

It's a Texas tradition! You have to eat at "Waterburger"! Yummy breakfast of pancakes, taquitos, honey chicken biscuits, and chocolate milk. Mmmmmmmmm We stopped for ice and lo and behold....Dublin Dr Peppers! In honor of my sister, Kathy, we bought one for everybody. For those unversed in Dr Pepper language, Dublin Dr Pepper's are made with cane sugar instead of corn syrup and are only available in and around Dublin, ...

... I am sure we will have plenty of stories to tell from our upcoming two weeks.....some of us wanting to kill each other....but most about what hilarious antics we got ourselves into. And no doubt we will get into some, it's us, bad luck seems to follow us. We will try and update as much as we can, catch ya in a couple weeks! Ciao! PS we want ...

We decided to give downtown Dallas (and the Dealey Plaza where JFK was shot) a miss as the weather is grey and drizzley and we just can't be bothered with the thought of diabolical traffic when the JFK thing is something that our kids wouldn’t enjoy (Kate anyway, I think Josh would). So driving through some little Texan towns today, much nicer than the spaghetti junctions and chaos of Dallas/Fort Worth. Some of ...
