We woke up to a sunny but crisp Californian day. Lake Cachuma was not on our to do list but we were pleasantly surprised by her size and beauty as we traversed some of her curved edges. The water was down as a lot of Cali is suffering from a long standing drought of 6 years. The views down the valleys and across the hills were beautiful. We had smoko and walked some more and toured the local state park museum were we found many animals common to the area that had ...

Spotty made it. Brandon (the trainer) spent an hour talking to us.
His office and facility is adjacent to the South LA Animal Services center. He was very animated, and talked about dog psychology with passion and a desire to educate. He noted Spotty's human fear aggression when his hackles went up and he started barking when another client came to the door.

... down to join us. We had a blast here and the beach was beautiful except for the tar from the Exxon oil rigs drilling off shore. We discovered rubbing olive oil takes the black tar off your skin. After packing up in the morning we headed up to Brian, Aimee and Aspen's in Atascadero, but first it was lunch and the World Cup at Pismo Beach.

What a cool spot the Bethel's have. After unloading the bags into Aspen's ...

... sea lions that live under and around a pier at Avila beach. We tried to find the Hartford Pier with the seafood and sea lions. We didn’t find it yesterday because we didn’t realize little Avila beach has three piers and Hartford pier is the last one. But, we found it today! And saw the precious sea lions that I’d held out hope for and that Dave had doubted were there. I was elated!!! They are so cute!

          So you could drive ...

Today we headed to Morro Bay for lunch, shopping and kayaking in the bay. After a tasty lunch the girls found a variety of gifts in the shops, bought salt water taffy, played air hockey and walked around waiting for our food to settle before kayaking. After a very short safety briefing by the nice man at the kayak rental kiosk we were turned loose ...
