... Falls but it was closed for repairs to the footpaths-disappointing. It is so beautifully green everywhere, it reminds me of the English countryside in some ways, but is more rolling hills and lush pastureland.
A visit to the Glasshouse Mountains area was very interesting. Small little mountains evolving
from volcanoes. Look more like hills to me than mountains! It was lovely to walk in the forest at the Mary Cairncross Park, cool and ...
... congregated, for the first fireworks at 9.00. These are done especially for the children and are pretty good in their own right. A little later we set off into the Rocks area for the main event. We managed to get quite close to the bridge and although the angle was not the best, we had a brilliant view. The whole place was jam packed and buzzing. I found out later that it was a record attendance of over one and a half million people! What can I say... you need to have been ...
Buderim, Queensland, Australia dave22... a cinema room, games room, kitchenette, another bedroom & bathroom and an indoor garden. Really, really beautiful house - Lorna wants one the same now!! They cooked us a lovely meal as well and we had a few beers and wines and caught up on everything that we'd all been up to since Vietnam. It was a fantastic evening and a great pleasure seeing them again. Actually, I think Lorna has arranged a shopping trip with Desley in Brisbane for Thursday, so maybe we'll see them again.
Maroochydore, Queensland, Australia vickersontour... bowls of processed cereals. We read some handbooks, asked many questions and really learned a lot. From working with the lunar calendar (all biodynamic activities are linked to the phases of the moon), through daily practices, all the way to making the eight preparations including which herb is buried in plain old cow horns and which in intestines or bladder. Obviously, biodynamics does NOT spell vegetarianism! In addition, we ...
Cooroy, Queensland, Australia gilliguy... ja metsien ylle. Beautiful!
Noosa, Australia ossenkampWaking up at 5am on my birthday is not normally my idea of a good day!! But we had another greyhound to catch at 6am so unfortunatly it was must. Made much better by pressies and a card from Kim, and Happy Birthday being sung down the phone by my parents as I stood in a service station halfway through the journey!! On arriving in Maroochydore, we had to ...
Maroochydore, Australia emilybs... a hike on the Glass Mountains, a mountain range which was tightly linked to Aborigional culture. Three huge mountains stick out of the landscape. The first has an old man's face clearly etched on the side, the second has a noticeable bulge coming out the side and the last is much smaller and has a curved top. These mountains tell a story of a family. The father and son were down by the water when the father realized the ...
Noosa, Australia coigreach... cousin Stephanie . It has been really great to sleep in a real bed and have a bath. We haven't had the luxury of using a bath since Boxing Day so it has been a pleasure. Well that's all for now. We will do another blog update in the next 24 hours from Hong Kong Airport and will try to include some pics from our last month in Aus. We are going to miss it, it's been great fun.
Maroochydore, Australia darrenniki... nuked it for a bit and then submerged it in hot water, and presto! Time to put it in the oven. The meal was actually surpisingly good, nothing got burnt beyond repair. Impressive, considering neither Sarah or I had ever cooked such a meal before. The guest list included Anthea, my coworker at the hostel; Ryan, her flatmate; Daniel, the German who's been living at the hostel as long as I have; Rob & Dionne, the ...
