... one, I see a small group of crew members standing by, smoking. I approach them, ask if I can bum a cigarette, and stand there with them, chatting amiably in German. ... living quarters are quite cramped. An interesting fact: every windmill has two doors so that if the arms, which are moved according to the wind, were blocking one exit, another was available. This morning was our first day waking up on the ship. One thing shocked me. As I looked out the sliding glass door of our room, there was a huge barge floating right beside us, only a few yards away! I've been on cruises before, but always ocean liners and you sit far above the water level.
