Happy birthday Nick! 25 years young. Unfortunately on his birthday we had to drive 10 hours. We left at 11am to Warrensburg, MO to deliver our bunnies, Maggie and Sam to Kristin. She is a nice girl who responded to my craiglist ad to foster our bunnies. She has ...
Omaha, Nebraska, United States jessi330... De Soto found it way back when. We had lunch in an original ice cream parlour that had the original decor and fittings dating back to the 1800's. Hot dog was great, the coffe we sniffed then left on the table. We then made our way to Sioux City, Iowa after a few stops at Webster and Rockwell where ther was a threat of a possible twister. No such luck. We had a drink in the bar and started to bond with some English sisters. We laughed SO much.
Sioux City, Iowa, United States david.mackeyWe started the day with a journey through the Black Hills via a winding road through Spearfish Canyon on our way to Mount Rushmore. On the way, we passed through Lead, SD, where the Homestake Mining Company found the largest single vein of gold in North America. Just before Mt. Rushmore, a tourist village sprang up. But we thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Mt. Rushmore and then we fired up the RV and ...

Question of the Day: What the heck does 'Motorcycle Colors Not Allowed' mean? Cultural Experience: Ate lunch at an Arbys with a small casino in the back Observation: The ...
Sioux City, Iowa, United States bobandconnie... I wasn't that impressed. And I walked out of the Mall of America empty handed. Yes, I didn't buy one thing. (Chris is now happy, knowing our bank account is safe.) Sioux City had a great little theatre. Actually, it wasn't little at all, but it was very quaint. Here is a picture of our dressing room. It was a great, full crowd. You could tell they really enjoyed the show. Too bad, the critique who was also there did not...
Sioux City, Iowa, United States ericalee... also a bit cleaner than it's southern counterpart. It was actually started in the 30's by a couple as a small drug store. To drum up business during the depression, the wife suggested advertising free ice water (and later 5 cent coffee) and when her plan worked her skeptical husband began going crazy placing billboards all over the state and beyond. Wall Drug has now grown into a whole Western themed town filled with tourists, but the water is still free and the ...
Sioux City, Iowa, United States allobr... I've ever had, Chris had a coffee and a Fish O'Fillet - all for $7. As always, finding the hotel couldn't have been simpler - the signage is always excellent. It does a free cocktail each at 5.30pm so I've got to finish now to dash off to try them. Apparently they are $1 thereafter - so they are either gonna be awful or it's a ploy to get businessmen to stay here with the company paying for the room. I'll tell you tomorrow.
Sioux City, Iowa, United States marty_chrissie... Christmas party!). Last night I went to see the Lights Festival at Old Market. I hope you can see the beauty of the lights in my photos - I am not a skilled photographer so I don't do the scenes any justice. Tomorrow I am off to Washington D.C. before getting the train to Richmond, Virginia to stay with a good friend - Carol-lee Aquiline and her son, Aeden. I am looking forward to seeing them again. Hope you all are well and I wish you all a very merry Christmas. Leonie
Omaha, Nebraska, United States leoniej... eating the corn. It's a good thing we went to the Corn Palace though, because at a gas station right next to it we found our cheapest gas so far, $2.64/gal!!
After the corn Palace we headed south and just after we passed through Yankton, we crossed the Missouri River into Nebraska. We LOVE Nebraska! It's really beautiful, I think it's one of my favorite places so far on this trip. We had been planning on just driving through the NE corner of the state and then ...
... least, a nice drive. After that we had a long drive across South Dakota ahead of us. Not much other than straight roads, grassland, and some rain. We did, on the advice of three people, stop in Mitchell to see the Corn Palace. This is a building that gets decorated with corn every year. Never really thought of corn as an artistic medium, but it actually worked here. Two sides of this large building have murals of ...
