Prince George, British Columbia, Canada pamericas... Date: December 10, 2008 Hawaii - The Epilogue to a 52 Part Series Anyone who looks at this blog for the first time today would assume that it was written as it occurred from December 16, 2007 to January 14, 2008. Considering how much thought, research and just plain work that went into the writing of this blog, it would have been a stretch to write it as we were traveling. I must add that such an endeavor would have left no time ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... the other day. I should probably acknowledge that the above description is not entirely accurate (for example, I don't have a scar on my neck). We have been working our way back down from Alaska through Northern B.C. on the Cassiar Highway (more on this route later), when we took a side trip to the "twin cities" of Stewart B.C and Hyder, Alaska to spot bears feasting on salmon. Highlights/interesting tidbits include: · The 70 km drive ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada elopfamilyDay 45 Canada Today was a simple day of travel. We left the RV park and set sail through some great farming country, following a lake and river system alongside us for most of the way. I mention here about a choice Earnie and Rick made before we left this park. It was decided to "dump" our grey water tank, and while Karon was finishing her teeth etc, in the restrooms, we moved the Castle to a dump site, no problem, job done Earnie and ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada popusa2008Living in Northern Canada you never know what the weather will bring. On the night before our scheduled vacation to Mexico we received 70cm of snow in less then 12 hours (over 2 ft). Around 10:00pm I checked our flight status with Air Canada only to find out that our flight was canceled as the plane could not land in Prince George. Our connection flight direct to Cancun the next morning was a wash so we decided to go to bed.
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada jwoodhouse... experience in Ottawa, ordering a taxi at the last minute was generally not a problem. Well, this is not Ottawa. Firstly, when I got around to calling, one of the two taxi companies in town did not answer their phone and the other company indicated that they had no taxis available for at least another 45 minutes. That squarely placed it in the "too late" category. Meanwhile, Barbara had left to go to the office with all her baggage standing by the door for ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada lobo... be kept in context as coming from a retired teacher). One more word about car rentals - avoid the two-door Chevy Cobalt. The doors are huge and heavy and the rearward visibility is nil. As a matter of fact, I would avoid any two door car. On every rental car there is a big sign inside the trunk saying "Do Not Leave Valuables in Trunk". Rental cars are not identified by company sticker but the magnetic code strip in the front window of every ...

You will see why Polychrome Pass in Denali National Park earns its name! As a backdrop, the tallest mountains will have fresh snow on their peaks while the lower elevations are still dry. Wildlife search opportunities also improve in late season, as ...
Prince George, British Columbia, Canada loboCN Derailment - The Story - Maybe? Last evening after supper, I took an 8 minute drive to Paddlewheel Park to see what had changed at the sight of the derailment. So what is new? As the photos show, two of the three locomotives and a burned car which carried lumber are still at the site. The third locomotive of the first train and the two tanker cars which caught fire from the second train seem to have been removed. To my surprise, in the category ...
Prince Geroge, British Columbia, Canada lobo... that I did quite a bit of swimming in Ottawa. Swimming definitely gives a full body workout but so does Nordic Walking, perhaps even more so insofar as the resistance of the arm motion can be much more powerful. From the moment that I took my first tentative steps of Nordic Walking, I knew it was for me. Among other things, I noticed that with the poles I couldn't help but to walk upright. Since my posture is naturally poor, this was quite a revelation to me ...
