Heading out of London to the coast. England is very nice, some really good people. Europeans must like Britain, I mean I have met nurses from France, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium. Are European nurses paid more than me? is that why they like coming to UK do you think?

... way to Boulogne. After parking the car and getting settled in at the hotel, we went for a bit of exploring.
Boulogne (which is pronounced 'ba - loin'...at least to us English speaking folk) is an old town which has been settled for around 2000 years. Like many towns around Europe, there is an old walled part of the town, with subsequent urban sprawl around the outside. Inside the walled off part of the town, we found a 'car park' (it's official ...
Boulogne is a town that seems to have grown a lot. Its old city center is still surrounded by its old fortress walls. The city that sprawls outside of this is somewhat drab and uninspiring but within the walls there is a great feel for what it used to look like with its cobbled stones and old city hall building. We stopped at a small café to warm up and then we walked along the walls of the city enjoying the view of the city ...
Boulogne-sur-Mer, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France ktchrisNext stop was Calais, sort of. We didn't really stay in Calais but we kept getting drawn back there for one reason or another. It is the closest city to the U.K at just 34kms of water in between the two. We first decided to stop there to stretch our legs and grab a bite to eat. The city isn't huge and besides a few nice buildings there wasn’t too much to see. We got some good food at a restobar ...

Today was mostly a travel day via the Eurostar train from Paris to Ashford, UK, then to Dover where our cruise ship departs. We had a couple of hours to kill once we got to Dover, so we checked out Dover castle, the local town, and hit up ...
Dover, England, United Kingdom youngtravel... due to a couple of little incidents on the way. We had a new inverter delivered yesterday morning as the original failed on Friday so I attempted to install that this morning but ran out of time. We were making good time to Dover but we needed to fill up the gas before we left the country as we had no time to get a French adaptor. The pump we found filled ...
Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France therv... not the least of which is free laundry. Tomorrow we will return to the French Port of Le Havre and there we will go on a new adventure. Hunt for Harriet Results: Harriet was quickly found in Le Havre by Brenda, Chrystal and Sharon. As for the Dover Hunt for Harriet, it will be one of the hardest hunts so far. Remember that while you are looking for Harriet, she is keeping her eyes on you. If you are right then you will have seen her. Additional clue: Don't give up she is right in front of you.
Dover, United Kingdom danharrietAs we enjoyed our last cruise we decided to see the Baltic capitals on the Norwegian Jewel cruise ship. A lot larger than the Ocean Village 2 it was still full of oldies with a lot less to do as the entertainment wasn't that great. Damo loved the basketball court and I got my first try of golf in the small nets and we even had a go at Karaoke in our own sound proof room. One show was pretty good with acrobats and ...
Dover, England, United Kingdom kazanddamo... the vicinity of Calais. Hee, funny, some big cargo ships are at anchor here, seems cheaper than being in the harbour. Since there is still no wind no sound, this looks like a ships graveyard....
Now we cross the "channel highway", first the traffic comes from the left, then we cross some neutral zone, then it comes from the right. Of course, since we cross, we have no priority, so my task is to look around to watch if some ship is coming. "There is one, far away ...
