Driving towards Kawakawa we come across a sign indicating the Puketi Kauri Forest. We turn onto narrow winding Waiare Road and drive through attractive hilly countryside. A few kilometres on we cross a one-way bridge.

"Stop!" cries my navigator, Miryam. "The road has run out!"

Yeey, I finally saw my first rugby game! Kieran and Chris play in the rugby team of Te Awamutu (30 minutes from Hamilton).
