... think!

BACK TO OUR TRIP

No need to get up early for this one, our target today was Bivouvac Junction, just a 113 kms South West, towards Charters Towers. Although we have been West before, the scenery this time was a lot drier, the roads a lot narrower and for the first time we encountered road trains, not that they affected our journey much as there was always plenty of room to pass.

The Biovovac Junction turnoff loomed in ...
Townsville, Queensland, Australia joderekononhome... wondering what is going on and looking for humans to bite. Not everything in Oz is good!

Rangy caught up with us again but I have to say that he is really looking the worse for wear. He seems to be having long nights on the town and when we do see him he looks shocking! We can hardly get a decent comment out of him before he's out on the tiles again. No good will come of this...

Giru, Queensland, Australia jenandtony... early night in preparation for our Yongala dive trip the next day. The Yongala was a passenger ship which sank during a cyclone in 1911 and all 121 people on board were lost. Interestingly, at the time the baby was not included in the passenger list, so people keep adding one for the baby when they tell the story. However, sometimes the text has already included the baby so the number keeps increasing and the most we’ve heard so far is 124. The only body that ...

However they got scared if you make sudden movements, i also thought it was funny how they scrapped with each other over food, bouncing around the rocks, chasing each other. At one point I recorded a wallaby and it stared at my camera with curiousity, whilst chomping on some feed. They are marvellous creatures, after feeding several of the wild wallabies I headed to Forts ...
Townsville, Queensland, Australia leehorscraft... from all over Queensland and there was a real family atmosphere, which was confirmed today when we went walking along the beach - everyone seems to take their families down there! We found the most amazing chip shop which does every order separately so although you have to wait a long time it was worth it! We have found chocolate.......the only problem is that it tastes awful and Cadbury's is extortionate ...
Townsville, Queensland, Australia benandem24... me of the song about Canada called "rocks and trees." But this would have been "boulders and trees!" I know the Lord of the Rings was filmed in New Zealand, but I felt like I was walking in some of the scenes. Instead of American navy ruins from 60 years ago, it should have been ruins from "the times of the kings of old." I mean, I half expected hooded rebels riding Oliphaunts to ride out of the forest! The pictures just don't ...

Townsville, Queensland, Australia kikiblogtrot... In the garage they fortunately were able to fix it, at least temporarily, otherwise we would have had to invest quite a few bucks to a proper repair. Most of the day we spent in the car trying to reach Cairns at a reasonable hour. I was given a present from the guys in the evening, a hat which fitted perfectly. Later on after a celebration start up in the camp, we transferred to a disco club, where my new hat came in handy.
