Woke up to another beautiful day. Hotel Pavillon had been excellent and a great place to relax for the night. Dinner was a 5 course meal with great wine to celebrate harriet's birthday. We started in Chamonix and took a crowded cable car up the mountain. After a while of hiking on relatively flat surface we crossed a rope bridge underneath a glacier. It was very pretty standing in the middle of the bridge looking over the water, one of the highlights of the day. After this we started a long, seemingly endless trek uphill. ... surprise - an surpassed eagle's eye view of the city of Lyon. Simply beautiful. From there we took a pathway goes back down that the hill. There are also steps that eventually branch off into smaller staircases that through little streets between residential houses. Very cute and romantic and we took our time getting down.
