It was raining so hard that I was unable to enjoy any views out into the distance, but I was able to look down at the rain forest below me (despite not have a glass bottom). Since I had the gondola to myself, I could lean over any window in any direction at any time.

In the rain forest, I did a quick hike to a waterfall, and went to a conservation center to learn about the wildlife. I fed some very greedy wallabies, and watched the sleepy ...

... the biggest stepping stones I've ever used. We didn't have time for a swim sadly but it was still good fun.
We had been told latest check in at our next hotel was half past four and we thought we had left plenty of time to get there. We got a bit lost though and accidentally visited another waterfall on the way. Then we hit a super windy road that took us over a hill back to the coast. Eventually we were on the stunning Captain Cook Highway following the coast north. The road is ...

... I had trouble getting to sleep because of all the different languages. Dad left on Saturday with the car and campervan so that he could meet us at Cairns. It took him 3 and a half days to drive there. He picked us up from the airport and took us back to the caravan park. We are staying at Cairns Holiday Park tonight. Its really hot here! Jack and I have had a swim and scootered around. Its still light and 30 degrees at 5.30pm! Tomorrow we are heading towards the ...

A day we can sleep in...awesome! So why are we all up by 8? Talk about doing something enough times and it becomes a habit! Today was a much needed downtime day. Some of us got caught up on some work and some of us went walking down by the beach and spent some time at the pool afterwards. Early evening, it was off to the Tjapukai Aboriginal Center. We had a lovely welcome drink when we arrived in a reception area with ...

... crocodile Satays, emu sausages (not recommended!), rib eye steak and barramundi fillet. The crocodile looked a bit like chicken and to prove it we took a 'snap' of it. A delicious Australian meaty feast to end our stay in cairns! Lucy's overall rating of Cairns is 8/10. We got to do and see lots of great things from Cairns and had some brilliant times with good friends! She's also a fan of Australia's general set up for a chilled out life with lagoons in all ...
