This trip starts in Indianapolis after a visit with family. We said our goodbyes around 1:00 and got on the highway, our goal being to keep driving until we had to stop for the night. We took 74 and 72 through Illinois and into Missouri. Our stops were few but one rest area in IL had a short hiking trail that led to a small pioneer ...

So a 90 miler after a restful rest day.

Was overcast in the morning and left St Joseph with a lovely sunrising. Perfect temperature and no wind. Cloud cover lasted. Lots of rolling hills which I quite enjoyed. Rode with Kettie and Barry and then we joined the big boys for a little (Jeremy, Rene and Doug) so upped the pace for a bit.

Stopped for lunch in Jamesport. First cafe went into was like walking into someones front room...uninvited. The whole place turned to look at ...

... me he has seen some really bizarre cyclists in his travels. They were always in the middle of nowhere too. He came up over a hill and could see what he thought was the glistening of an airstream trailer approaching. As he got closer he saw that it was a cyclist. He was pulling a trailer loaded with a silver canoe! He found this to be very weird, because not only was it a ridiculous load, but there was no water for at least a hundred miles each way. I'm trying ...

Left El Dorado, Arkansas pretty early and did a big day today - travelled 530 miles - (850 kms) to a city called Chillicothe in Missouri. On the way we stopped at a gas station at Pine Bluff in Arkansas and they have a Stop n Shop for all your huntin & fishin gear - guns, ammo - you name it - they got it! Had drinks at Applebee's when we arrived in Chillicothe - a pretty good chain restaurant over ...

... and we are going to schedule his school to talk to on next year's trip. That was the exciting part of my day, the rest was pretty uneventful. I ended up making it to Macon which was 22 miles from Moberly. Tomorrow I will shoot for Jefferson City which is 92 miles from Macon. I know it's far but we are turning south and the guy that stopped us told us that it gets flat. Hopefully he was right and I am able to make it all the way. Today I rode 60 miles. ...
