Best Western - Bradford Elysees Paris

Stayed here a week in April. The location was good, especially if you are looking for a quiet residential neighborhood to rest your head. The hotel did seem a little shabby and the staff were not the most helpful we encountered on our trip, but they did seem to try. Great bakery a couple of blocks west on rue de Berri had terrific pastries and even omelets for breakfast so we passed on the hotel breakfast.

Great location, above average rooms and bathrooms, accomodating and friendly staff. Only complaint, noisy from outside traffic. First time in Paris and it is truly a beautiful city!

We chose to stay in the 8th, which turned out to be a bit dull, but the hotel couldn't have been more accommodating. Our first two days were in a huge corner room on the 5th floor with a 50 foot balcony and looking straight out at the Eiffel Tower. We then took a trip to Burgundy and asked if we could stay at the Bradford upon our return. Our second room on the 6th floor had sloped ceilings and even better views of the city. However, because the Bradford is in a business district, they could not give us a room for Sunday and Monday nights. The hotel staff courteously called one of their sister hotels, near the Opera, where we stayed for our final two nights. All in all a terrific trip. Well done Hotel Bradford!

Having read some of the earlier review AFTER booking at the Bradford we were really concerned, but it turned out to be fine. The splendour of the photographs is now a little faded but our rooms were clean, comfortable, and air conditioned. The bathrooms were excellent. The hotel is very well situated for the Champs-Elysées and as we were only there for a weekend it's an OK place to stay. For what we payed, including Eurostar from London we can't complain at all.

If you're looking for a reasonably priced, clean, quiet hotel - in the middle of everything on the Right Bank - try the Best Western Bradford Elysee. It's in the 8th District, just a couple blocks off the Champs Elysee. You get a free continental breakfast daily which is quite good. It's only a bed and breakfast type hotel so the only other food service you can get in your room is the same continental breakfast you can get for free. They'll charge you $20 per person to deliver it. The rooms are clean, spacious, with soaring ceilings and french windows. The bath room was modern, with marble counter top and tile floor. If you don't see a shower curtain over the bathtub for the flexible-hose shower head, just as the maid to install one. (She realized we needed it after finding the floor a little damp a couple of mornings.) Trying to get a non-smoking room is a challenge. But even a smoking room - which unfortunately we were stuck with - didn't reek of tobacco odor the way a similar one would in the States. Paris is a wonderful city to walk in and we found the hotel close to a lot of interesting stuff. The little boutiques, cafes and brasseries that surround it are plentiful and unique. This was our first trip to Paris. Our 5 nights at the Bradford we very enjoyable. Bon Voyage!

Be careful! All on the internet is not what it seems to be. After we thought we had carefully researched this hotel based on reviews and found no "bad" comments and some suspiciously high reviews, we booked this hotel. The website shows a large, well appointed room for this hotel. BEWARE! The picture on the website is NOT what you get. The picture is of an executive room, not the deluxe or the standard. We checked out after spending one night there.

The hotel is on a very dismal, decrepit, LONELY (at night) street in Paris. It is not in good walking distance to most tourist spots and you may feel a bit unsafe navigating your way back to it after dark. Upon entering the lobby, you may be under the impression that the charm extends to the rooms. WRONG! You are escorted to your room on an elevator that would never pass inspections in the US. It is old and creaky and I almost feared for my life. It is basically a small cage. The stairs aren't much better. They slope from years of use and the runner is not attached and slippery.

The room, how can I even begin to explain the room? Small and DREARY! What a shock! Two small beds, an antique wardrobe with not enough space, no drawers, tiny drawers in tiny night stands, dim lighting, windows that we couldn't get to lock, no in room safe, no smoke alarm, and air-conditioning that doesn't work. I have a feeling that they tell everyone that comes there that the air-conditioning will be fixed during their stay. Also, you only get one room key and you have to turn it in to the front desk each time you leave the hotel.

Believe it or not I do have a couple of good things to say about the hotel. The staff is very courteous and almost apologetic that their hotel is not what I'm sure most people that check in expected. They did try to accomodate us with another upgraded room in the "attic" area but it was even hotter than the room we had and the sofa(bed) in the room didn't look clean enough to sit on. The manager did finally offer us an executive room, but by then our travel agent in the US had found us another hotel for the rest of our stay.

I honestly can NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. The price was about $225 a night, but the standards and size weren't even on the level of a Hampton Inn in the US. Very disappointing.

At least five problems happened in our five day stay at this hotel, the worst being we had no hot water two differnt nights and couldn't shower. The management promised we would get a reduction in our room rate for those nights, but when it came time to settle up, he was no where to be found and the desk clerk wouldn't do anything. Also, the air conditioner was not working, we did not receive our phone messages left at the front desk, and although we had a no smoking room, clouds of smoke drifted up from the main floor where guests sit and puff away all day/night. Breakfast, at 20 e. per person was not worth the cost for some hard boiled eggs and bread and three taxi drivers had extreme difficulty in finding the hotel.

We stayed at this charming hotel two months after 9/11. Other than sharing the benifit of toll free booking this hotel is NOT a typical Best Western. The hotel makes a good impression the minute that you enter. We had one of, or perhaps the largest room in the hotel with a huge wardrobe, marble fireplace , desk , comfortable arm chair. The bath room had towel warmers , tub with shower - no bidet. While there really isn't a view to speak of, I could see the Tower and it's revolving beam at night was beautiful. There were two twin beds that were put together to make it one large bed. I would stay there again, but it was a little out of the way for shopping etc. A great bargin for a 4 ****, at the time we paid around 190 E. Excellant maid service, no resturant, but a breakfast room. Difficult for taxi's to find !!! Air conditioned !

We stayed two nights over a weekend in February and enjoyed our stay. The room was clean, quiet and dark. The staff was helpful and kind and the elevator was really interesting. The only complaint that we have is that breakfast was outrageously expensive for what it was... and although they said they were open until 11am, the staff started clearing the buffet at 10:30. All in all, a fine property.
