    Best Western in Chinatown

    A recommander.

... It was incredibly sad to see all the flowers dotted around from the day before where family members had come to pay their respects. I don't think we fully appreciated the scale of the building that went down until we saw the diameter of it with the water cascading down into into foundations. And all the names! This really was such a senseless tragedy and no words can describe how eerie it was standing there.

After seeing this we weren't much in the mood for ...

I woke up this morning not knowing what was planned. The boss was keeping it as a surprise for me. All he told me was be outside your hotel at 8:30am. So I made sure of it, I was up, ready and outside. When I was outside and waiting, a flash limousine came and picked me up and started driving. I was impressed, it ...

... the world go by before going back to see Times Square lit up showing the best and worst traits of commercialism at the same time. No trip to Times Square would have been complete without spending ridiculous amounts on bags of M&Ms but we are on holiday so who cares!

Sandra stayed awake until about half 9 which was a good effort after getting up at 2.30am British time and will hopefully get a good nights sleep before visiting the 9/11 museum and Green lady on Sunday.

After watching the new 911 Memorial Museum dedication on TV, we headed out to meet Joan for lunch at Eatily. After checking out the craziness we grab a sandwich and eat in Madison Square Park across the street while looking at the Flat Iron Building. We split up and head over to the high line and nearby galleries with a stop at the Rail Line Diner for drinks. We eventually make it back to lower Manhattan for a late dinner at Bill's Bar and Burgers where Shea joins us. ...

... We have utilised the market across the road many times to buy our groceries. And the laundromat is so close that while we wait for our clothes to wash and dry we either go home or to our coffee shop.

While we pretend to be locals ...
