Willie and Kath came up for a few day's at half term in October, to catch up with Sid and Debbie and to get a wee rest if that is possible with two small children!! They went on a pumkin hunt at Blenheim but did not tdo the hunt , instead they had a fish and chip picnic in the park, and ran around with the kids all afternoon. Here are a few pic's mailnly of Maisie and Ruan.

... passport and it took me about 5 months. More on Polish bureaucracy in the next entry.

2. Vaccinations - I am a bit paranoid so I wanted jabs for everything I could have them for: Hep A, Hep B, Hep C, polio, rabies, typhoid, yellow fever, jap. enceph., meningitis. (I know, it looks quite comprehensive but I'd rather be safe than sorry). It's taken us 6 months to have them all. There were times we would visit our ...

Waiting for the adventure

... born.

At the beginning we wanted to go for 3-4 months but the sheer volume of what we wanted to see in those 4 months meant that we would have had to catch a plane nearly every week. In the end we settled for a whole year.

To be honest I wasn't sure whether we'd actually make it, whether we'd go. It's one thing to talk/dream about something and it's another to do it. 16 months ago this idea seemed so remote, distant and ...

The Cotswalds

Dinner last night at The Old School House in Port Isaac was probably one of the best we have experienced this trip. Starters were Smoked Duck then Grilled Scallops, mains were Tiger Prawns in an asian sauce and Whole Grilled Bream stuffed with crab and lobster meat. Desserts were the now obligatory Creme Brulee and Chocalate Pudding. An Australian wine complimented the meal just nicely.

Next morning ...

November in Trowbridge

... old guy.. Mr Scrooge I think his name was. One place had gone all out, with a spooky entrance and a grave in the front yard. The kids had great fun, lots of lollies. One poor kid got to running around and tripped over on the road.. lollies and body parts everywhere!!

Guy Fawkes night was a good night.. cold though. The school put on a fireworks display and fireworks went off all over the town, that night, the weekend before and for about 3 days after!! lol

Night out with cousin

... run down them!!
In Bath we started at the Huntsmen, very appropriate.. lovely pub except I went to the loo and when I came out I couldn't find my cousin.. she'd gone upstairs out of the way. You could imagine everyone was staring at me quite intently as I walked around and around the pub.. but not upstairs. I think I found her just as she was coming out of the loo!
Another pint and then we decided we were hungry so ...

Kicking back the Swindon way!

After a bit of time wandering round London & doing all the official interview bollocks & ran away to catch up with an old friend of my brothers. Good old Wayne took me in for a few days in little Swindon town. Not much there really but we did do a Swindon Pub crawl the night I arrived & had a few drinks. Good times! No photos sorry...there wasn't much to photograph.

... at the church brought this distinctly British chapel to life, and I immediately could picture young boys in restrictive clothing making their best efforts to sing hymns. Gabe's thoughts- While just as old as many churches we had visiting in Italy the aesthetic was completely different. Wooden benches and stone arches create a very intimate space that is just dripping with history. After seeing the sites we enjoyed a picnic lunch (which included some great English cheese) and ...

Oxford

... its spires, and there are plenty of them to go around.

After touring Oxford, we headed to Stratford via the Cotswolds. We were driving through some of the most picturesque countryside you could imagine. The beautiful rolling hills, and off in the distance, you could see village church towers (square towers) rising up above the trees. It’s not the same as the Alps, but it is very pleasing to view.
