    ... was liked paradise for Matthew. He knew all the prehistoric animals. They had displays of many of fossils extracted from the pits. In one area you can watch volunteers digging and separating bone from tar, and then sorting and catalog the specimens. Some pieces were large but many were tiny and required microscopes for viewing. Another interesting display showed a timeline of events at the tar pits. It showed that animals had been falling in up until fairly recent time (5,000 years ...

    We phoned a few restaurants around town trying to get a reservation only to find they were booked. We're dressed very casually and wander down to the hotel restaurant.
