I'm back in Melbourne again (for the last time) after a 3 week trip to Queensland, which completed the Australian set. There are 6 States and 2 Territories on Oz and I've now visited them all, now that's proper travelling! Queensland was much slower pace and relaxing than previous travels, partly as I had company in the form of Lisa and we seemed to encourage each other to eat and drink too much; but also the very nature of Queensland seems more looking at stuff than ...

Coucou les gens!! Bon, je vais sans doute aller en Tasmanie dans les 2 mois qui viennent, mais en attendant, bah je travaille, je travaille, donc pas de photos exceptionnelles... Melbourne CBD is quite compact, flat and very easy to get around with some great shops and very Victorian. Main Areas of the CBD: Elizabeth Street: Mainly souvenir stores, fast food, alfresco dining, horse drawn carriages and basement discount stores. Swanston Street: Electronic and photography stores, camping stores, fast food, motorbike shops and fashion. Bourke Street: Large department stores and my favorite shop JB Hi Fi. Little Bourke ...

... and in character to 1870's gold rush, and the buildings are replicas of a small town complete with a schoolhouse, general stores, and houses. There is a mine you can go in, and also a fully functioning pump house (see the videos for a better explanation). We had a great time just taking in the atmosphere, it was very informative and entertaining, and impressively put on. Things like this can be cheesy and too built for kids ...

... could get to within a few feet of it. It was an uneventful journey (100Km+) along the M8 to Ballarat. Without accommodation booked we found a "Big 4" campsite by chance where we could use our NZ equivalent 'Top 10' Card to get a discount. However, our saving vanished as we had to purchase our own linen! Apparently most people bring there own - they obviously don't get many backpackers then! The en-suite cabin was nice enough and we ended up crashing, reading our books before bed.
