... free shops, the same tables that we would play 500 or hearts on and the same food... in Kroner instead of euro! I sat there and read my book in the cafeteria before heading back down to the train, and being relieved when I found my bag as it was left. When we got to København I found the platform to Helsingør and had 5minutes to wait. It was so wonderful hearing people speaking Danish (the last time was our day in Vienna when we were in the church and the girls in front of me ...
Helsingør, Denmark reneedm... 10 minutes late due to quick loading at the stations in Berlin. It was however interesting to observe the way the high speed line was managed during this morning peak period. Although our train was only doing 200km/h (not full line speed) we weren't over taken but we did overtake a few other trains, some stopped in passing/overtaking lanes, others travelling wrong road while we zoomed past. The connection in Hamburg was meant to be a generous 35 minutes or so, thus ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark v1213... I also got a cheap pair of boats with wool lining as that has been my biggest problem - the amount of walking I have to do and my legs are not really standing up to the challenge... I also cannot feel when they are cold. I need to look into a bike (when in Rome...) Tre (Three) I have found this is the magic number - so I am wearing at least 3 pairs for socks and the boots everyday - it was the best purchase I have done so far as my feet are not nearly as ...
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark nomadicnikki... them. At 6am we left Holger for the white cliffs so that we could be there for sunrise. It was a really cool drive that lasted about an hour and a half. The Danish countryside was covered in snow. We arrived as it was getting light, but unfortunately it was too overcast so we couldn't see the actual sun rise. Nevertheless, we had fun walking along the top of the cliffs and down to the water. Here are some cool pictures that we took.
Copenhagen, Zealand, Denmark tom_white_5588... or 20 USD. This is quite a savings because rides usually cost 20 to 60 crowns each, for one ride. So even one ride would pay for the ticket. The only thing is, I hate amusement park rides! It's just like in airplanes: I have panic attacks if I'm not in control of the machinery. I would be content just to walk around the park, but Kaliope, convinces me there must be one ride I could try. I looked at the ...
Copenhagen, Denmark davy_gam... this shall be a common theme for my travels). Later that night I ran into Bobby, Fox & crew and aside from ensuring a spot on their hotel room floor, I made us reservations to the local Ice Bar (I'll add pictures eventually). This place is such a tourist trap, yet it was awesome in its own right. We walked in and were suited up in Eskimo garb before entering the actual frosty ice palace. The entire bar, including dance floor, chairs, glasses, walls (etc ...
Copenhagen, Denmark conman... town. Now over and over again I had been told, you will be disappointed, she is very small, everyone who sees her thinks she is too small etc... Well I don't know what everyone is talking about, she is about the size of an adult, and as she is sitting on a rock so she is above you. How big do these people want her to be! Sorry for those of you who don't know Hans Christian Anderson the author of the before mentioned character came from Denmark. Before ...
Copenhagen, Denmark laine... of Christianshavn also wanted a green, open area for their children to use, away from the increasing traffic in København. The spirit of Christiania quickly developed into one of communism, the hippy movement and the squatter movement, in sharp contrast to the site's previous military use. However, in additon to hosting progressive happenings, Christiania also became a magnet for runaways and junkies. So after a period of confusion among peaceful and eceology-minded ...
Copenhagen, Denmark the_wayfarerWell I've known Jules and Michael for three years, and they finally tied the knot! I went a few days early and got to go out for a girls' day with Jules and some others. Then Ross met me in Copenhagen for the wedding. It was a cute, small ceremony and a fun reception at Julie's parents' house. I didn't sleep well, so have to recover when I get back to London!
Copenhagen, Denmark amyandersonToday I was up at 9:00 and showered and ready to go by 9:45. I had to check out of my room by 10am, and couldn't check back in until 2pm, when the hostel would have the Contiki room list ready. I went to check e-mail and there was a guy sitting at the computer next to me. He looked like he was between 18 and 35 and might speak English. We started talking and he was David, from Australia, and was doing the Contiki tour as well. David had arrived in Copenhagen that morning ...
