Best Western Beachfront Houghton Lake

Since yesterday was Vetern's Day, we couldn't do the Post Office and banking that needed to be done so we had to hang around one more day. After doing all of that this morning as well as some errands on the way down, we hope to be at Matt and Amy's sometime later today.

Well there are three full days before I drive to Trav. City to catch my excape back to Cal. In the past two day the biggest event is my getting a new bottle of Balsamic vinegar oh and the sun coming out today. So unless something mind blowing happens, this is most likely the last entry :- [

... rain started when we got there so cover everything quick and find some place out of the rain [not dry, just out of the rain]. Tends to rain for 30 min and then one gets 30 min to get out and see stuff before the next down pore. Today was special, I got out of the rain [with a hot dog or two] but the rain from hell followed me in [at least I only had to stand in3 inches of water and no ...

... but shy me, oh well that's two now. Did an ice cream and e-mail recheck [nine ads] and then back to Farwell to a wait setup time. Took in the "parade" [about 35 people], setup the craft space and then we all headed to Midland [30 miles] for Italian [there being no worthy eating places closer], so, so. The End!

Saturday 7/25

Its Craft Day with chicken tossing ...

So we drove and drove and I did see about three crapers I will return to make images but for the time used the day was long. It took about 4 hours to get to Frankenmuth (a 1.5 hour drive normally) but my navigator [who helped open the west] seems to have lost his touch and it was more like wrong way Day. The weather was cool, not cold, but with light to moderate rain [in Calif ...

... a bit of wine and toast (new bread). That made for a great supper and now I am typing this and then it GOOD NIGHT.

Wed 7/22

The day started out with sunshine and coffee w/bagel in town. Then a return to the lake to pick up my brother and off we went looking for outhouses. Not much luck, saw several but could photograph only one so headed into town for coffee and a “Taste of Michigan” pizza, which was very, very good and included ...

We got home Wednesday afternoon (7/22/09), one day shy of being gone 8 weeks. We went 9,660 miles. Fred & Evelyn were great traveling companions.
We hope you all enjoyed the stories and pictures of our trip to Alaska. I can't wait to scrapbook all of our pictures and re-live our great adventure.
Traveling is wonderful but there is no place like home!

Any day is good but some shine and some do not. This one started off with birght sunshine and warm temps. I went out for coffee at my fav. shop, Lake George Grocery (sp) and then down to the lake to enjoy my 17 new friends but they had other plans. Then a short walk and over to Shingle lake then back to the casa for a total of 2 miles. By now the sun was gone and dark clouds had settled in along with temps in the 60s ...

... I surfaced and shook my fist angrily at Tonto - the same nemesis who'd tipped me three times during Kayak-Fun Noodle-Joust 1999. Brandon and Tonto hi-fived. I laboriously dragged my kayak and the fifty pounds of water now inside to shore to empty it. Recovering, I made my way up to Chris's kayak to wage war. And I lost. I went down again. "Yah!" cheered Chris, and he continued on in his cocky, frollicking way. Me fighting Chris in Kayak-Fun Noodle-River Joust ...
