The hotel staff did their best to accommodate us on short notice. They got our rooms ready sooner than anticipated, offered us laudromat service and went out of their way to make our short stay with them a memorable one.

Tues 17 – We were too tempted to visit the Olympic National
Park so we went in our hired car and took the ferry, to explore the place.
Olympic encompasses several distinctly different ecosystems so every turn you
take there is something completely new to see. First was the deep, turquoise
blue Lake Crescent with eagles flying above it was a great first stop. We then
          drove to our ...

worse for wear after weeks on the move. Watching this man shine Seb’s shoes was
one of the nicest experiences. He took extreme pride in his work, and it was
amazing to watch such an old custom with all of the different tools and
polishes used throughout. What was even nicer for me was that it brought back
some almost forgotten childhood memories: shining my Dad’s work shoes in our

We weren't supposed to get to this part until Friday, but knowing that things were starting to fill up in advance of the 4th of July Holiday, and wanting to be sure we would get a full hookup site (which we did!) with 50 amps (yes!), we ...

... a free walking tour 11am so we decided to join that. It was really good, taking in all the main sights, starting at the Pike Place market, past the World's oldest Starbucks and the Chewing Gum Wall (pretty disgusting to be honest!) and ending Downtown. Mary, the tour leader, even took us into Seattle central library, which seemed a bit random at first, but after following her up several escalators onto the tenth (!) floor, it soon ...

camera, then relaxed in the room for a bit.

For dinner i went to the pike place brewery, found that
i needed my passport to drink alcohol, went back to the hostel, got
the passport, then came back and got some food, started chatting with
a local, drank and ate for a bit, then went back to the hostel where
there was a movie night – shaun of the dead, watched that for a
          bit, then went to bed.
