There was an excellent restaurant as part of the hotel that served us a delicious dinner. Great staff too!

Well, it started off pleasant enough in the morning. Our B&B host, JP, served us a delicious breakfast of home made bread, juice, and Yogurt (from goat milk). He sat down with us last night when we were eating our assortment of French goodies from the grocery store (baguette, salami, cheeses, and good local wine), and again at breakfast. The …

E failed to get any lunch as we discovered that 11:11 is a bank holiday in France and everywhere was closed! So we arrived at the hotel at 5:00 pm and were starving! We checked in and the owner kindly provided us with pate and bread and a glass of red....perfect!

We decide to go back to old Lyon for dinner. We meet a man from Ballarat in the hotel lift. He says he is here for the Masters Athletics. We ask him how we will go running in the heat. He says that Australians have an advantage because they are used to the heat. I think that ...

... Sone River. Naturally we are the only non French speaking people in the place. In tonight's case a total blackout, this makes for some fun interpretation of menus but just adds to the authenticity of the occasion. As we were at a place called 3 Canards and we were told that the owners came from Madagascar. As one could just work with some key French food words we opted for the Canard Madagascar, yes safe but better than being sorry. All good, ...

          Macon to Lyon

This morning we had free time until 11am so we were up at breakfast by about 8 then went into Macon to look around. It was raining when we set off but it had stopped after about an hour. I found a pair of boots to buy that will keep my feet dry if we have more wet cold weather. We found a lovely patisserie and bought our days cakes. We're back on board the boat just before 11am. The boat left Macon at 11.30 and ...
