Not much to write about...
My only reason to come to Houston was to visit the NASA space center. Frankly, it was unimpressive at best.
Houston downtown looked very busy, huge and un-inviting and I felt very tired at the same time. So I decided not to do anything else in Houston. I checked into a motel close to NASA and crashed.

... erdem würden sie ja noch nicht mal akzeptieren, wenn zwei legal verheiratete Schwule hier ankämen, weil andere Gesetze und Sitten in Texas nicht interessieren! Cancelled flight and problem solving
... see if they would cancel our room without charging us. (United did say that they could send something to the hotel showing that our flight was indeed cancelled.) We did that (excellent hotel), then seriously considered cancelling the whole weekend. But cooler heads prevailed, and we returned to the desk to see if we could both get on the early flight to Chicago, spend the night, then arrive Austin mid-day. Texas - the people are scarier than the ghosts
... Port Arthur, Texas on our way east. We're happy to report that our Port Arthur kicks the Texas version's bum! Scary, a little dirty and very heavily industrial, their version of a tourist attraction was the presence of miles of power poles, factories and other random bits and pieces. Taking an accidental wrong turn we drove down a back street in the town, and lets just say we were happy to be on our way across the bridge and into Louisiana.

The Journey North
... br> After lunch, we hit the road heading north again towards Kansas. A few hours later we hit the Kansas state line and got on the Kansas Turnpike. On an island in the middle of the turnpike, there was a welcome center and gas station/convenience store. We pulled into the gas station and fueled up. Then we pulled over in front of the welcome center and went inside to have a look.
